Montelukast works by blocking substances and their relative functions in the body called leukotrienes. Singulair can be taken with or without food, and a once daily, usually in the evening. Take Singulair in the evening for asthma or at about the same time each day for hay fevers. Take Singulair in the evening. Before taking Montelukast, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription products you may use which stimulate liver metabolism. It does not interact with warfarin or theophylline. Use of this medication is not recommended in children less than 15 years old.
