Take Singulair in the evening. Montelukast can be used alone or with inhaled and oral corticosteroids to prevent asthma attacks. This drug improves asthma and hay fever symptoms by blocking substances and their relative functions in the body called leukotrienes. Singulair is the first asthma controller medication. Montelukast works by blocking substances in the body that trigger allergic and asthmatic reactions. Use of this medication is not recommended in children less than 15 years old.
